Di benedicaris vos.
As an expression of our culture, the Sacra Flameno has made this daily prayer for all Sandum citizens to use and, perhaps, base their own practices and prayers on. Enjoy!
“Haec aqua a corpore impuritates eluat. Purga mentem; purga carnem; purga animum. Ita est!”
Stand before the Altar to the Buddha, prostrate three times, saying:
“I take refuge in the Lama. I take refuge in the Buddha. I take refuge in the Dharma. I take refuge in the Sangha.”
Greet and well-wish the Buddhas if you’d like:
“Salvete Buddhae! Salvete Bodhisattvae! Salvete Dharma Deae! Salve Etato! Salve Sôgmô!”
You can, in turn, honour a specific Buddha, for example: “Salve Chenrezig! Salve Amitabha!”
Realise the Buddha Amitabha and his sublime retinue arise before you.
Recite and repeat each line so it’s said three times:
“Buddha Amitabha, I take refuge in you in this and every life.”*
“For the sake of beings, I give rise to the Bodhicitta so all may benefit.”
* On the first line, you may invoke more than one Buddha.
Recite one mala of Om Ami Dewa Hri and, if you choose, another mala of your choosing.
“I prostrate to Amitabha Buddha!” “May I be reborn of the pure realm of great bliss.”
Sit and realise Amitabha Buddha and his entourage dissolve into the crown of one’s head, mixing like milk and water.
“And may all sentient beings without exception be placed in that very state.”
Finish with the dedication of merit from Jetsunma Akhon Lhamo:
“By this effort, may all sentient being be free of suffering.
May their minds be filled with the nectar of virtue.
In this way, may all causes resulting in suffering be extinguished,
And only the light of compassion shine throughout all realms.”
Stand before the Altar to the Gods. Recite, performing the adoratio after each well-wish:
“Salve lar familiaris. Salvete Di Penates. Salve Gen Patris Familias. Salve Vesta Mater. Salve Etato. Salve Sôgmô.”
Touch the altar and say: “Ita est!”
At this point, you may include an Orphic Hymn to your patron/matron and other gods.
“Quod bonum faustum felix fortunatum salutareque sit mihi ______ ac nationi Sandae Universae. Ita est!” [insert your name or ‘Genti ____’ and your family name]
Then turn to the north and, while touching the altar, recite “Illicet!” or “It is finished!” Then the adoratio position is resumed once more and, twisting the body back and forth in a general offering manner,
the rite is finished.
